Vintage 1960s Black Velvet Hostess Tableware John Russell Tea Cup And Saucer Trio

Calling all vintage tea cup lovers, this trio set is an absolute stunner and will make tea or coffee drinking a super stylish affair. This three piece set includes a tea cup, a saucer (we like to be fancy at Interior Superior) and side plate for that all important cake or elevenses treat.

The trio is part of the Hostess Tableware Staffordshire Designs dinner service collection by British Ceramics design legend John Russell. Hostess was a brand of British Anchor Potteries Ltd during the 1960s. Russell was a prolific designer in mid-century Britain, he is notable for his many and varied designs for Midwinter Pottery, amongst others. We love the Hostess range at Interior Superior, our favourites are Debutante, Dolly Days and of course this striking design Black Velvet. Each piece has a transfer-printed bold geometric border design in black and brown on glossy white fine bone china. It’s sleek, stylish and oozes mid century modern vibes. Each item is in excellent vintage condition – no chips, cracks or repairs. As these pieces are over 50 years old, there may be light cutlery marks or tiny areas of wear to the pattern in places, but nothing that would detract from its beauty or function. We recommend extra TLC for all our preloved pieces so advise hand washing.
