All hail the mighty Hornsea! Hornsea Potteries was founded in 1949 by brothers Colin and Desmond Rawson. This quintessentially British brand made ground breaking designs all through the following decades until its final closure in 2000. The Hornsea legacy remains an important inspiration to many illustrators and artists today. With full access to the archives at the Hornsea Museum, this is the first range of products re-designed and released under official licence by Magpie.
Hornsea Design Director John Clappison originally drew this now iconic bird for a range of ceramic dishes produced in the 1960’s. This super cute bird dish has been redrawn from the original illustrations archived in the Hornsea Museum and remade in new ceramic moulds. All dishes are hand glazed using authentic Hornsea colours of the period.
This beautiful bright blue trinket dish is made from stoneware and hand glazed so each one is unique. Perfect for adding a touch of mid century modern to your home space and holding your keys and jewellery. We also have a larger version of this in retro yellow chartreuse, both sizes can stand up to be used as a decorative display pieces.
Check out the matching cat cruet sets and cat money box we have for some added MCM goodness.
